Here we try to answer some of the more common questions we are asked.

  • Do I have to undertake any recommendations from the report? +

No, they are simply recommendations; they are given as guidance on how to improve the efficiency of the property.

  • How can I improve my EPC rating? +

Find out how you can make your home more energy efficient with the EPC Advisor

  • What is a Green Deal Assessor? +

A Green Deal assessor (either a sole trader or an organisation) is authorised to offer Green Deal Assessments to consumers.

  • How does a Green Deal Assessment work? +

If you wish to take out a Green Deal loan with a Green Deal provider, you need to have a Green Deal assessment. Our assessments show you the energy efficiency of your home, and look at the energy consumption that occurs in your property.
  • Can I switch energy provider if I have a Green Deal? +

In most cases you can still switch energy suppliers if you have taken out a Green Deal, as all of the larger providers (British Gas, EDF, Eon, Npower, Scottish Power and SSE) are currently part of the scheme.
  • What is an Energy Assessment? +

We visit your property to collect all the data required for assessing energy features. We use this data to generate an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) using government-approved software. The assessment is based on the construction and type of dwelling and relevant fittings.
  • How can I check if my property has a valid EPC? +

Visit the Landmark website at and click the link to access the Domestic EPC Registers. Click on ‘Report Retrieval’ and follow the instructions on the screen.
